[Unfortunately, she thought it was a good idea to call instead of text so at first all Leon's going to hear is the sound of quiet sobbing. It takes her a few minutes to catch her breath and stop thinking about how it felt when Yosuke's reading completely snuffed out, how Yu's reading spiked off of the charts and also losing Mabel...it's too much, and with everything happening now she can't trust her readings on other people.
So she calls. She does get ahold of herself though long enough to say:]
Where are you? Are you safe? Please tell me you're safe somewhere.
[He scrambles to pick up, and then he just kind of stares in horror into the CereVice at the sound of her voice. Last time he'd seen her, things had been . . . not fine, but not like this. Something had happened to someone again, hadn't it?
His first thought is Narukami. He'd seen that post about acting as bait.]
Where are you? [She'll answer the "what's wrong" later, but she needs to see him. She needs to be sure nothing's happened to him, see him in person, explain in person and in her haste to do so she winds up sort of fumbling over some of her words.] I can't always summon Kanzeon, something happened to my Persona--I can't feel everyone anymore because this stupid bug and Isis and Kohryu and it shouldn't be like this, and Yosuke-senpai and Mabel--
[Yeah that's pretty much the gist of it. Please stop her.]
I-I'm in my apartment! Shit, where are you? I'll come! I'll come I'll come!
[The reality of all of that trickles in by inches. He sticks on: Mabel. But he can't ask over the phone; he can't let that derail them from him finding her.
His own voice is thick with panic, because hell if he's a rock in hard times, but he forces himself through it; he's poised on his sofa with his CereVice hovering in front of him as if he could just leap off and straight into the screen and to her.]
No, stay there! I know where that is, it's too complicated to explain. I'll be right there just don't move. [She's pretty firm about that and it's obvious she's already running.] Are you alone? What about the others?
T-they're gone—I mean, I dunno, we all glitched out, I dunno where anyone went—
[He'd been half ready to run out again aimlessly and look for them all, but yeah, that's a bad idea and he knows it. He's been doing that all day. He's tired and he's alone because it doesn't help to run around for three hours and finally find someone and then they vanish on him, and here's finally someone he can talk to who's on her way to him.
Okay. [A sniff.] When I get there, I'll try to help you find everyone else, too. Maybe if I concentrate enough she'll come back. [She doesn't specify who "she" is, but that doesn't matter.] I'll be there soon.
[She cuts the feed then and bolts, and it's not long after that Leon will hear a few almost-frantic knocks. As it turns out she was much closer than she'd thought.]
[He rips the door open as soon as she knocks, and once he knows for sure it's her, he tugs her into the room and right into his arms to hug her tight, kicking the door shut behind them.]
[She doesn't exactly get a chance to respond since she's busy absolutely sobbing and burying her face into any part of him she can reach. Leon's alive and she's managed to find him and that's enough. It takes a few moments for her to pull herself together, but she doesn't pull back either.]
…they're impossible to beat. They're destroying us out there and Yosuke-senpai and Mabel...I don't know why Kanzeon's gone, too but it's getting worse. [She pauses just a brief moment.] Are you okay?
[He nods, keeping his arms around her tight and pressing his face down into her hair. It's as much to calm himself down as it is her. He'd just seen Mabel earlier . . . he doesn't want to ask if she's implying what he thinks she is. He's pretty sure he knows. Saying anything about it will make him start to cry, which he's already embarrassingly close to, and he's fighting that right now with all he has.]
Uh-huh.
. . . Stay here. Maybe—maybe we can call the others, get everyone here with us . . .
[Leon no please don't cry, that'll make her cry harder and then they'll both be a mess. But it's a hard situation, isn't it? Everything's a mess and the world sort of feels like it's ending. Judging by the way she's clinging to him she's not interested in moving anytime soon, though there's a slow nod. She'll stay.]
But...I can't summon the right Persona. [She isn't thinking properly, having forgotten that they have CereVices that could be used to call people.] Have you ever met Rei-chan? She's been warding places around the city to keep people safe, but I don't know if our friends are in those places yet.
I haven't checked...when Yosuke-senpai's reading dropped off we had to find Yu-senpai. But Naoto-kun ran ahead and now they're both back at the base, I think. I hope. [Life sucks: a Rise Kujikawa story.]
...but texts should still be able to go out, right? That's how some of the others are communicating. [She's more crying now than sobbing, a little more able to think clearly.]
Yeah . . . I'll try, okay? Who should I text? C'mon, let's sit down . . .
[Not that he wants to pull away to do any of those things. He doesn't, and his arms don't loosen quite yet. They need this time, both of them, but especially Rise, and he doesn't want to interrupt it.]
